Introducing Obeya Structure at The Welsh Pantry

At the Welsh Pantry we are continually exploring ways to improve our business. Lean manufacturing is a journey we are engaged with as we strive to achieve operational excellence. Our recent initiative is the launch of our Obeya room and structure. Obeya is a Japanese word which translates into big room, war room or command centre. It is the nerve centre of our business. Daily factory briefings feed up into the Obeya room where business metrics are captured and reviewed. In this room problems are welcomed, prioritised and actions assigned. Obeya is an area where we solve problems in a structured way to Improve the business but more importantly it is a structure that provides a platform to share information and data with all of our manufacturing teams. All of our operators are potential leaders and problem solvers ☺
